Dreamweaver Setup
Web Updating Procedure

1. Install Dreamweaver Demo on your home computer
2. Make a folder on your hard drive which will store the web page files (ex C:\quartz)
3. In dreamweaver, go to the ÒSiteÓ menu select ÒNew SiteÓ
4. Select ÒLocal InfoÓ from the list on the left and enter in the following info:
5. Site Name: (Pick any name you like)
6. Local root folder: select the folder you created (ex C:\quartz)
7. Check ÒRefresh Local File List AutomaticallyÓ
8. Select ÒWeb Server InfoÓ from the list on the left and enter in the following info:
9. Server Access: Select FTP
10. FTP Host: ftp.quartzware.net
11. Host Directory: QuartzWareWeb/
12. Login: (I gave this to you a while ago)
13. Pass: (if you forgot, let me know)
14. Select ÒCheck In/OutÓ
15. Check ÒEnable File Check In and Check OutÓ
16. Uncheck ÒCheck out files when openingÓ
17. Check out name : Please enter your Full Name
18. Select ÒSite Map LayoutÓ
19. Home Page: the folder you selected + index.html (ex C:\quartz\index.html)
20. Select ÒDesign NotesÓ
21. Uncheck both boxes
22. Click OK
23. If it asks you to create a site cache, click ok.
24. When the site window appears, click Connect
25. Select all items with the exception of the "documents folder".
26. Click the Get button at the top of the screen to download the files to your local directory.
27. Setup is complete

Web Updating Procedure:

1. To make changes, select the appropriate file, and click Get to download the latest copy from the server
2. Click check out.
3. Make your changes and then preview them in your browser to make sure that they appear correctly. (this is done in the file menu).
4. Update the bottom of the page with the date, name, and change made to page.
5. Check in the file and your changes are updated to the server.
6. Update the "What's New" section of the home page. List all changes made, plus put your initials in parenthesis to note who made the change
7. ONE IMPORTANT NOTE: When checking in/out, if you get a message that says ÒInclude Dependant filesÓ or somethings like that, say NO!!!!! If you donÕt, every time you check in a file, it will re-upload all the images on that page, etc... It takes forever, and sometimes dreamweaver gets errors.
