Based on the book Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card, our game takes place in an orbital battle school.

Pressed by an alien threat, the instructors devises a military training system to prepare children 7-12 years of age for space combat. The central test takes place in the battle room, a large, rectangular room without gravity. Two entrances, or gates, lie off the floor in the middle of the walls on opposite ends.

One soldier, the player in our case, leads 40 other children against another team.

To win:

  • several team members must activate panels around the enemy entrance and have a final member pass through the compromised gate.

Each soldier wears a "flash" space suit and holds a blaster that can freeze enemy suits when in range. Completely frozen soldiers cannot shoot or control their direction.

Teams do not need to freeze the entire opposing team for victory, just get through the gate.

Games can end in a draw if neither team has enough members to activate and pass through their target gate.

The player will act as team leader who can issue commands to squads, such as:

  • attack a position

  • defend the gate

  • rush the enemy gate

  • and group at a location

The second player challenge is to act as an effective soldier, freezing the enemy while getting a hang of the zero-g movement.
