What is it?

The Photo Rally is kind of like a cross between a scavenger hunt and a road rally -- in the allotted time, teams compete to provide the best photos of offbeat subjects that we send you out to find. In the end, the photos are viewed, judged, and hilarity ensues. For those of you who were around for last year, the Photo Rally was a great success. However, we know that it can be better. We've improved the rally to give you more time, more things to search for, and more rewards. Gather up your photo rally comrades and keep your camera ready, because there's a lot more in store for you this quarter.

I want to play! What do I need to do?

To ensure a decent turnout and to keep things running as smoothly as possible, each team must register prior to the photo rally. This is to make sure that we have an accurate head count of those wishing to participate, and also to avoid the confusion we had last year where some teams arrived without a camera and/or laptop. To properly register your team for the photo rally, send an email to photo.rally@gmail.com containing the name of your team, the names of your team captain and all members, and confirmation that your team will have a digital camera, a laptop to display your photos, and the means to transfer the pictures from the former to the latter. Listen. We know this is going to be kind of weird, but we're charging a minor team registration fee this time around. Each team needs to pony up a 5 dollar entry fee. Why, you ask? Well, for one thing, we want to be able to reward your hard work, and all of the entrance fee money is going towards a prize worthy of the photo rally. We'd like to stress that all the money is solely for prizes, and not for our alcohol slush fund. Besides, 5 dollars per team? That's like a buck and a quarter per person. You can probably scrounge up your share of the fee under the couch, you know?

I just looked at the times. Is this going to take all day?

No. No no no no no. We are distributing the lists at the morning meeting. We are collecting photos at the evening Scoring Ceremony. How you use the time in between events is up to you. We feel that this is more flexible than the previous, 90 minute event. If you have things to do in the middle of the day, such as homework, sports, drinking, etc, you still have time to do that and participate in the rally. Since your teams are organized beforehand, you have the opportunity to plan which people are taking photos while others aren't. All we ask of you is to have your captain come to the morning meeting, and have your entire team (if possible) make it to the scoring ceremony. The rest of the day is your playground.

The List

Lists will be distributed to the Photographic Commanders at the morning meeting. We will only be distributing one paper copy of the list per team. It will not be available online until after the photo rally, so be sure that your team attends the meeting.

Judging

All judgements, point tabulations, and decisions are final. Judges reserve the right to...well, to do whatever the hell they want.
