Software Configuration Management (SCM) Plan

This document will explain you group's approach to managing the information produced during the engineering process. Your plan will, at a minimum, have the following sections:
  1. Introduction

The Introduction will describe the purpose of the SCM Plan, its organization and applicability.

  2. Configuration Item Identification

This section will contain a list of the Configuration Items (CIs) associated with this project. In addition, it will describe the CI naming/numbering system devised by your group.

  3. Version Control

Here, you'll describe how (specifically) you will provide version control of the CIs identified above.

  4. Change Control

Describe the process by which you will facilitate controlled change to the CI baseline. Include diagrams and sample forms as necessary.

  5. Configuration Auditing

Describe how your group will conduct configuration audits and when you'll conduct them.

  6. Status Reporting

Describe your group's approach to keeping everyone in the group, and the customer, apprised of changes and potential changes to the CI baseline.
