Professional Experience

  • 2003-2004         Software Architect, Kiva Systems, Woburn, MA - Kiva systems specializes in automated warehouse distribution systems based on multiple mobile robot systems. Developed core software application for first phase of multi-robot coordination and control.

  • 1995-1996         Control Systems Designer, Sterner Automation Ltd –Toronto, ON - Sterner Automation provides controls engineering consulting services. During the time of employment, Lever Bros. was the main client, where duties included assembly line control design, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming and maintenance, User Interface design and programming.

Research Experience

  • 1999-2002         Research Assistant, Stanford University - Worked with Real Time Innovations Inc. to help develop new real-time controls and networking software. Duties included implementing and testing software in an over-the-internet closed-loop robot control experiment.

  • 1997                 Research Assistant, Bloorview Macmillan Rehabilitation Center –Toronto, ON - Volunteered as a researcher to help develop software that tracks the walking gait of humans. A real-time computer visualization of the walking gait was constructed using measurements from tilt sensors attached to a leg.

  • 1992-1994         Research Assistant, SLOWPOKE-II Nuclear Reactor Research Facility, Royal Military College –Kingston, ON, Canada - Duties inculded maintaining the cyclic neutron activation analysis system and designing  front-end software for the Nuclear Emergency Response Team’s (NERT) mobile Neutron Activation Analysis System.
