- What is submitted along with my application for the Blended BS+MS Program?
- You are required to submit
- 3 letters of recommendation [pdf]
[doc] from current Cal
Poly faculty mailed or hand delivered to the CSC department office by the posted deadline
- a resume
- a statement of purpose
- a change of objective form available on line at the CSC Forms
page.
- an unofficial copy of your transcripts by the deadline
The entire package should be delivered to the CSC Department Office by the posted deadline.
- When are applications accepted for the Blended BS + MS Program?
- Applications for the program are accepted for Fall
and Winter quarters only. Fall applications are due by
May 1 and Winter applications are due by October 1 to
the CSC Department Office, building 14, room 254.
- What requirements are necessary to apply to the Blended BS + MS Program?
- You must be a CSC, SE, or CPE major at Cal Poly, have
taken 20 units past CPE 103 and have junior standing or
above. You must have a 3.3 major GPA, and have not
enrolled in Senior Project and be within one to two quarters of completing 186 units that count towards your BS degree.
- When will I hear about the decision on my Fall or Winter application?
- You will hear the decision on your Fall application
by May 30 and your Winter application by October 30, if not sooner. Your
first notification will be via email followed by letter
to your local address from the department.
- When can I take graduate level courses?
- You may begin taking graduate level courses before or after
your acceptance into the BS+MS program. Soon after you will want to submit
your Formal Study Plan with Dr. Fisher, graduate
coordinator for the CSC Department. The Formal Study
Plan should be filed by the time you've taken 12 units
that will count towards your MS degree.
- When will my status change to BMS so I can register with graduate priority registration?
- Your status will change when you have completed 186 that count toward BS or MS. The Change of Objective form will be filed by the CSC Department and your status will change to BMS and give you priority to register as a graduate student. Be aware that this status change may affect any financial aid you may be receiving.
- Do I have to enroll in a certain number of units each quarter similar to that as an undergrad?
- When you change to BMS status and are enrolled in
500 level coursework, 8 units are considered full-time
for graduate students. Please check with the Advising Center regarding any rules that may be in force as a BS student regarding Administrative Probation, etc.
- How will I know when to file certain paperwork as I get close to graduation?
- An email will be sent from the cscgrads alias about when to file the appropriate forms. All forms must be filed within two to three quarters of graduation or consult the current graduate student handbook on-line.
- How do I get on the cscgrads email alias?
- After your acceptance into the Blended BS+MS program, your @calpoly.edu email address will be added to the department graduate student email alias.
