Responsibilities: Ed Ware is the Manager of Software Engineering at Raytheon’s Electronic Warfare (EW) Systems in Goleta, CA., He is responsible for the management of all software development within the engineering directorate and for a staff of 79 software engineers and support personnel. Ed has worked at Raytheon for over 27 years, holding various positions including Electronic Technician, Software Developer, and Product Team Leader. Ed's leadership includes a number non-traditional accomplishments including: starting the Software Band, cooking a pancake breakfast for his employees, serving ice-cream sundaes "just because...," and holding a department beach party for all his employees. In addition to his management responsibilities, Ed serves as the Raytheon Campus Manager to UC Santa Barbara coordinating on-campus events, supporting affiliations such as SWE, NSBE, MESA, & Los Ingeneros and conducting campus job fairs.
Current projects: Outside of work, Ed’s energy is directed toward science and music education. He has been a leader in the creation of the Engineering Academy at Dos Pueblos High School, where he has been the Academy's Computer Science Instructor. In an effort to attract more students into the math and science fields, Ed has successfully teamed Raytheon and DPHS students to compete in regional and national FIRST Robotics competitions. In support of his other passion, Ed started bands at local elementary schools and taught instrumental music before work each day. Ed has also worked with the local Jr. High to create tutoring programs for at risk math students. Besides cultivating young minds, Ed volunteers his summers as a chaperone for youth outreaches to Costa Rica, Ireland, & Mexico.
