Lines of Code Counting Procedure

We have chosen to use our own program (FLOCC, or Fetter Lines Of Code Counter) for our line counting to ensure greater accuracy. FLOCC follows these rules:

• Header information (eg import statements) are not counted
• Javadoc comments are not counted
• A line of pseudocode (any line that starts with "//") counts as one estimated line
• Each class declaration counts for one actual line and one estimated line
• Each method declarations counts for one actual line and one estimated line
• Each class field declaration counts for one actual line and one estimated line
• A line inside a method (that's not a comment) containing at least four characters counts as one actual line

By using these rules our line counts will turn out to be smaller than the actual number of lines our files occupy, but we feel we will have a more accurate number to compare to our estimates.
